a dirty deed.

made a young girl cry
last night here at my very
own kitchen table.

the make up stained tears
creeping down her cheeks seem so
far away now, as

morning sunshine seeps
through my bedroom window and
my head gently throbs.

This is lovely. I feel like I'm looking at a snapshot...you know those grainy ones that make you feel sort of lonely but they're beautiful at the same time? Like that.

as you age and grow older, your younger years, the toddler, the child, the teenager, the reckless adult, they do not dissipate and give way to maturity; they sink in and they continue with you, like concentric rings of a thick tree trunk, giving strength and form to the layers on the surface.
